Questions accounting firms ask about automation.

Straight answers to the questions accounting and bookkeeping firms ask before they automate: time audits, supported ledgers, where data lives, who owns the code, and pricing. Each answer has its own link you can share. If yours isn't here, ask us on a free time audit.

Getting started

What is a time audit?

A time audit is a free 30-minute video call with Ekamjot Singh, the founder. We walk through your week, your busiest season, and the tasks your team repeats, then point out work that could be automated. You'll leave with a list of what's worth automating, whether or not you work with us.

Getting started

What happens after the audit?

If there's a fit, we send a written plan with what we'd automate, which tools we'd use, and a fixed quote. Nothing starts until you approve it. If automation isn't worth it for your firm yet, we'll tell you that instead, and the audit costs you nothing either way.

Getting started

How long does a build take?

One to a few weeks, depending on scope. A single workflow, such as document reminders, sits at the shorter end, and several connected workflows take longer. You get a timeline in your written plan before any work starts, and we test everything with your team before it goes live.

Tools

Do we need to switch software?

No, we build on the QuickBooks Online or Xero setup you already have and connect the tools your team already uses. Your books stay where they are, with nothing to migrate, and your team keeps working in the tools it knows. The automation runs alongside them and handles the chasing and admin.

Tools

Do you work with QuickBooks Online and Xero?

Yes, both: they're the two ledgers we work with. If your firm has clients on each, we build so one workflow can serve both, with the platform-specific part kept small and separate. Your team gets one process, whichever ledger a client uses.

Tools

Do you only use no-code tools?

We work with Make, Zapier, or n8n, whichever fits your firm. When no-code tools hit their limits, we write custom code, such as a small script or a custom connection between two apps. Once it's paid for, the code is yours, documented and handed over.

Tools

What if a tool we use isn't supported?

Often we can still connect it. If the tool has an API, a way for other software to talk to it, we can usually connect it with custom code. If it doesn't, we'll tell you on the free time audit and suggest another way to handle that step.

Data

Where is our clients' data stored?

It depends on the tools in your plan: QuickBooks Online, Xero, and some automation platforms may host data outside Canada, and we list where each one hosts data before we build. Want more control over your data? We can self-host your automations on AWS servers in Canada.

Data

Can our automations run on servers in Canada?

Yes, we can self-host your automations on AWS servers in Canada, for firms that want more control over their data. Self-hosting covers the automations we run for you, while QuickBooks Online, Xero, and the other tools in your plan keep their own hosting. We list where each one hosts data before we start.

Ownership and pricing

Who owns the automations?

You do: once it's paid for, the code is yours, documented and handed over. We don't charge a licence fee to keep using it, and there's no lock-in. Your team, or another developer you choose, can run and change it without us.

Ownership and pricing

Why isn't pricing listed?

Every firm works differently, so we quote after a free time audit. You get a fixed quote in writing before any work starts, along with what the price covers and what it doesn't. You decide whether to go ahead once you've seen the price, and the audit is free either way.

Ownership and pricing

What if something breaks after handover?

Apps change and bank feeds disconnect, so workflows need upkeep. We agree on support in your written plan, so you know who to contact and what it costs. The code comes with documentation and is yours, so your team or another developer can also fix it.

Working with us

Do you work with firms outside Vancouver?

Yes, we're starting in Metro Vancouver and work with accounting and bookkeeping firms across BC. Time audits and check-ins happen over video, in Pacific time, so distance isn't a problem. The workflows run in your firm's own accounts, wherever your office is.

Working with us

Do our clients need to learn anything new?

Usually not: we keep it simple for clients, such as an upload link or a short list of questions they can answer from their phone. Requests come from your firm, in your voice, so clients deal with you as they always have. We test every step from the client's side before it goes live.

Working with us

Who will we work with?

Ekamjot Singh, the founder. The person on your audit call is the person who builds your automations, with no account managers or hand-offs in between. Ekamjot is a full-stack engineer, so when no-code tools hit their limits, he writes custom code.
